Complete Eye Exams With Our Professional Optometrist

Eye tests aren't just to determine whether you need reading glasses. We'll perform a complete eye exam and identify any issues that need further investigation. If we find anything that needs to be treated, such as ocular disease or injury, our experienced eye technicians in Independence, KY, will give you a detailed explanation so you know what we'll do and what results you can expect.

Why and When Should You Have an Advanced Eye Exam?

If you have severe vision problems or eye pain, make an appointment with Family Eye Health Center as soon as possible to have tests run and get the proper treatment. Waiting can increase the possibility of further eye degeneration. At your advanced eye exam, we'll diagnose any eye diseases, such as age-related macular degeneration or glaucoma. We're equipped to provide a range of treatments.

What Will We Do During an Advanced Eye Exam?

Should our optometrists determine that an advanced eye exam and evaluation, which is more extensive than a routine eye test, is required, we'll run multiple tests to diagnose any issues. We'll also dilate your eyes to enlarge your pupils. The dilation process helps Family Eye Health Center to get a better look at your retina and other vessels in the back of your eye. Note that the dilating drops usually take a couple of hours to wear off, will make your eyes light sensitive, and also blur your near vision.

If you prefer not to be dilated, we have a process known as Optomap, which is a wide-field retinal imaging device that provides the same benefits as dilation. This technology captures detailed retina images without traditional dilation. This advanced equipment offers a comprehensive view of the back of your eye in seconds, allowing us to detect potential issues such as retinal detachments, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. With Optomap, you can skip the discomfort and inconvenience of dilation drops and enjoy a quicker, more comfortable exam while still receiving the highest standard of care.
